DockIt

Overview

DockIt is a molecular docking app built by John Wonmo Seong. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data DockIt collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

DockIt collects minimal data necessary to provide the docking service:

Docking job parameters — protein PDB ID, ligand PubChem CID, grid box settings, and exhaustiveness level you submit for each docking job.
Email address (optional) — only if you choose to receive email notifications when your job completes. We do not use your email for marketing.
Job results — docked poses and binding affinities generated by AutoDock Vina are stored temporarily on our server so you can retrieve them.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect personal information, device identifiers, or usage analytics.
We do not use cookies or third-party tracking.
We do not sell, share, or monetize any user data.

Third-Party Services

DockIt connects to the following public scientific databases to retrieve protein and molecule data:

RCSB Protein Data Bank — for protein structure search and PDB file downloads.
PubChem (NIH/NLM) — for molecule search, properties, and 2D/3D structure data.

These services have their own privacy policies. DockIt does not send any personal data to these services — only scientific search queries (protein names, molecule names).

Data Storage & Retention

Docking job data (parameters and results) is stored in an SQLite database on our server. Job data is retained for service functionality and may be periodically cleared. We do not back up or archive individual job data.

Data Security

All communication between the app and our server is encrypted via HTTPS. The server is hosted on a private CapRover instance with restricted access.

Children's Privacy

DockIt is an educational and research tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
